Julien is a designer, dramaturge, curator, researcher and para-academic. Studio Julien McHardy is run by Julien, often with allied thinkers and makers.
We work with theatre-makers, cultural institutions, artists, universities and commercial clients to develop narratives, strategies and processes. Our work is always collaborative and crosses disciplinary and geographic boundaries. We invite people from various backgrounds into the process. We are interested in bringing new worlds into being.
Besides running the studio, Julien currently contributes to the Center of Postdigital Cultures at Coventry University as a publishing consultant and is a senior researcher at the University of St Gallen, investigating zero-carbon mobility futures.
Julien is also a founding editor of the publisher Mattering Press and serves on the board of the association of Open Access presses ScholarLed.
